Bio >

Many Birthdays are DIY, dance, punk, cinema, noise, beats, words, color and texture. Drums, echos, distortion and paint. Their shows are a mixture of voices, instruments, projected video, English and Japanese, chaos and construction.
They began in Austin, TX in 2002 with burned CD's & a dark apartment for recording and have grown into a 4-piece group with a wonderful, diverse following. During the early stages of Many Birthdays, John and Sarah worked and recorded musical ideas while living in Japan. This stay greatly influenced the direction lyrically and otherwise upon returning to Austin. The addition of Henna Chou & Rachel Fuhrer further adds an eclectic and very vibrant sound.

Many Birthdays can be heard regularly on Austin's KVRX & KOOP radio and are sometimes fortunate enough to be played on Mike Watt's "The Watt From Pedro Show". They have also recorded on "KVRX - Local Live" with the friendly engineers at UT! The "Emptiness Is Forever" EP was released in 2009 with the support of Thirty Ghosts Records and was distributed nationally, followed by an East Coast tour. In June of 2010, MB played an all-original live score to the 1926 animated film "The Adventures of Prince Achmed" at the Alamo Theater in Austin. A full length album of new music is expected soon.
