Electronic, lo-fi, post-punk, progressive, cinematic and noise
rock!
A mixture of voices, instruments, projected video, English and Japanese.
2002....Many Birthdays is created by JD in a dark
apartment somewhere in Austin TX, which yields the full-length homemade
cds "The Abstract Door" and "35 Minutes". Guest
players are enlisted (enter Sarah), but it is only a recording project.
2003 - 2004....Many Birthdays continues recording
while living & working in Osaka JAPAN. The stay in Japan inspires
loops, sounds and melodies plenty. MB is now a male/female duo.
2005....Exhale the Japanese experience and self-release
"Sub Rapid Express". Live shows begin w/the solidification
of an electro/DIY post-punk sound. Vocals are in English & Japanese.
2006 - 2007....(enter Eric B!) "Days of Beat/Days
of Hollow" EP is released in 2006. MB is regularly played on
KVRX & KOOP radio 91.7 and frequently makes the KVRX "Topless
39" list. Various songs on the EP and previous albums are featured
several times on Mike Watt's "The Watt from Pedro Show"
radio program. Two songs are included in Eric Power's full-length
documentary "Swordplay", which screened at the Delray
Beach Film Festival and Solstice Film Fest. MB is featured in The
Austin Independent magazine, distributed during SXSW '07. (thanks
Eric B!) Live shows continue every month with a revolving cast of
extra players...Henna, Michael, Vince, Jorge (Abominatron).
2008 - ...New music, shows, more shows... regularly playing
and throwing down with Henna and drumgirl Rachel from Boston. "Emptiness
Is Forever" EP is released, culminated from the current crop
of songs from the live show. An east coast tour is planned for the
spring of 2009!
